As Magento gives no flexibility with order related options , a few facilities for order status are available! To support magento users we developed an Order Status Extensions Named " ORDER BOOSTER "

Assign Out order status to orders
manage existing orders
Enable/Disable custom order statuses
Notify order status to customers in each changes of the order
Enable/Disable automated dispatch of notifications for order status / send notifications only for certain orders manually.
A separate email template is assigned for each store view.
